We can reassure you that there are no longer any active fires affecting the Blue Mountains, The air is fresh and clear, and over 90mm of rain has fallen so far this month, so the National Parks are getting greener every day.
Most of the Katoomba bushwalks have not been affected by the bushfires, and many of the lookouts have reopened.
Kookaburra Cottage is located on the edge of the escarpment in Katoomba's stunning Echo Point precinct. It is an elegant and comfortable full brick Art Deco home which sleeps six people in four bedrooms (view accommodation). The living room has filtered views of the Jamison Valley from its large picture windows, and Echo Point and the Three Sisters are just a short stroll away. The back garden is sunny and private and backs onto a quiet laneway. View the gallery for our photo collection.
The Prince Henry Cliff Walk, which takes you to the Three Sisters and to Leura Cascades, is right across the road and many other walks lead off from here into the valleys and to the waterfalls and lookouts.
For relaxed sight-seeing the Blue Mountains Explorer Bus and the Trolley Tours bus stop at nearby Honeymoon Lookout. They will take you on a tour of Leura and Katoomba and bring you back to Cliff Drive.
Katoomba and Leura have a great many cafes and restaurants to choose from. The award winning Darley's Restaurant is just up the road at Lillianfels. Leura is famous for its Garden Festival in spring (in 2018 it runs from September 29 to October 1 and October 5-7), and Katoomba celebrates winter with Yule Fest in July and the Winter Magic Festival in June on the weekend of the winter solstice.
